Heating Oil FAQs

With automatic delivery, we track your estimated usage and schedule deliveries proactively, without you having to call in or monitor your tank gauge. The goal is to prevent your tank from running low. Will-call puts the monitoring and ordering in your hands — you watch your tank gauge and reach out when you’re ready to schedule a delivery (we typically recommend calling when your tank gauge reads ¼ for heating oil or kerosene). Choosing the right delivery option for you really depends on how involved you want to be in managing your fuel supply.

In addition to fuel delivery, as a full-service fuel provider, Dead River Company provides heating equipment installation, maintenance and repair, 24/7 emergency service, price protection plans, service plans, annual tune-ups, online account management and more.

Emergency delivery timelines depend on your location, current demand across our service area, and time of year. During peak heating season, high call volumes and high demand can affect scheduling, so monitoring your fuel level and ordering at ¼ tank or more is crucial for will-call customers. If you find yourself in a no-heat situation, contact your fuel provider right away. If you’re a Dead River Company customer, we’ll work to get fuel to you as quickly as possible, and our team can advise you on next steps based on your specific circumstances.

Managing heating costs can feel challenging, especially during a long New England winter. Many fuel providers, including Dead River Company, offer price protection and payment plan options designed to help homeowners manage their fuel bills. These plans can make budgeting easier and take some of the financial stress out of the heating season. Ask your Dead River Company representative about the options available.
