Most propane and heating oil tanks include a gauge that shows the approximate amount of fuel remaining in the tank. Heating oil tank gauges are usually located on top of the tank, while propane tank gauges are typically found under the dome lid near the top of the tank.
Tank gauges are generally marked in fractions — such as ¼, ½, ¾, and Full — to indicate fuel levels. As a best practice, schedule a delivery when your tank reaches about 25–30% full, especially during colder weather when fuel usage can increase more quickly.
Looking for added peace of mind? Automatic delivery helps take the guesswork out of monitoring your tank by scheduling deliveries for you before you run low.
