How can I check how much fuel is left in my tank?

Read this to learn: How to check your propane or heating oil tank gauge, when to schedule a delivery, and how automatic delivery can help take the guesswork out of monitoring your fuel supply.

Most heating oil and propane tanks have a gauge that shows the approximate fuel level remaining in the tank. Heating oil gauges are typically located on top of the tank, while propane tank gauges are usually found under the dome lid near the top of the tank.

As a general rule, it’s a good idea to schedule a delivery when your tank reaches about 25–30% full. Especially during cold New England weather when fuel usage can increase quickly.

Prefer not to monitor your tank yourself? Automatic delivery helps take the guesswork out by scheduling deliveries before you run low. If you're interested in changing your fuel delivery option, then call your local Dead River Company office to speak to an expert today.
