Tariff Information
On April 2nd, the federal government imposed a 10% tariff on all energy products (propane, heating oil, gasoline, diesel, etc.) imported from Canada. We want to answer some questions you may have about the impact to you:
- What is a tariff? A tariff is a tax imposed on goods imported into the country. The company importing these goods into the United States is responsible for paying the tariff.
- Will tariffs increase the cost of fuel? Yes, tariffs effectively act as a tax on fuel coming from Canada. A significant portion of the propane, heating oils, and other fuels we deliver comes from Canadian suppliers. As a result, the cost we pay for this fuel has increased, which unfortunately leads to higher prices for our customers.
- What is the company’s approach to tariffs? Our goal is to maintain full transparency with all our customers regarding the cost of the tariff. To this end, every delivery will itemize the tariff cost, which you will see listed as a “Tariff Cost” on your delivery slip.
- How long will these tariffs last? Unfortunately we do not know how long the tariffs will last.
We truly value your business and are committed to being transparent. If you have additional questions, we encourage you to contact your local office.
