Troubleshooting Checklist for Oil Burners

Is it cold in your house?

If your oil burner fails to operate, there are a few simple things you can check yourself before making a service call. If the burner still fails to operate after checking each of these steps, please call your local office for service.

  1. Is your thermostat set above room temperature?
  2. Is the emergency switch in the 'On' position? (switch with red cover plate usually located at the top of your basement stairs or at the entrance to your furnace room).
  3. Do you have oil in the tank?
  4. Is there a tripped breaker or a blown or loose fuse?
  5. Press the Reset button on relay ONCE ONLY. The Reset button is usually a small button located on top of your oil burner or on the stack switch.

CAUTION: If you are not familiar with the operation of this device please contact our service department without delay.
