Ductless mini-split heating and cooling systems are a smart alternative to central, forced air systems, as they do not require the use of air ducts. They are an excellent option for remodels, room additions and as a supplement system in addition to traditional heating and cooling systems.
Ductless systems consist of an outdoor compressor unit and one or more indoor units, which can be placed just about anywhere in the home. The interior unit is placed in the desired space where additional cooling (or heating) is needed. The condenser is installed outside the home and the system is designed with a power cable and a condensate line that run between the outside unit and the inside unit. The first of these supplies electricity, while the second takes away water, or condensate. They help maintain a flow of cool air from the exterior compressor to the interior cooling unit, which pumps cool air into the home.
